Symptoms of Industrial Deafness
There are a number of tell-tale signs of Industrial deafness or Noise Induced Hearing Loss.
Hearing problems causing difficulties in understanding a conversation are a key symptom of industrial deafness
Turning up volume controls of equipment such as as TV’s, Radio’s, Hi-Fi’s and sound systems. If someone needs to increase the sound volume then there is a possibility they may suffer Noise Induced Hearing Loss.
The medical condition Tinnitus, often described as a ringing in the ears is another symptom of Industrial deafness. It may also be likened to buzzing, whining, whistling or humming.
Working in a noise industrial setting for a period of time
Partial or temporary hearing loss can be a result of a number of hours exposure to very loud sounds. This condition is temporary and normal hearing should resume after a few hours.. However repetitive exposure to high levels of sound may result in full and permanent loss.
Permanent Hearing Loss can develop over a number of years following constant high levels of noise. Ear defenders should be worn but as our experience shows this sensible Health and Safety procedure is not always followed.
